The Afrinolly App

The company's flagship product, the Afrinolly App, which serves as the Nollywood IMDB, has garnered recognition by winning Google’s Android Developers Challenge for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since its launch in 2012, the Afrinolly App has aimed to promote creative content production and distribution in Nigeria. The app allows users to access a wealth of African movies, trailers, news, and entertainment, making it a vital tool for fans and creators alike.

Creative Hub: Lagos

In 2015, Afrinolly took a significant step by establishing the first Creative Hub in Lagos. This hub was designed to address the training needs of aspiring filmmakers and to provide adequate audio and video post-production facilities. The hub has since hosted numerous global leaders, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, highlighting Afrinolly's commitment to fostering creativity and innovation.

Cinema4Change & Google Africa’s Digital Skills youth training program

Afrinolly has also been proactive in securing funding to support its initiatives. The company has managed over $1 million in grants from the Ford Foundation and MacArthur Foundation for its Cinema4Change program, which trains emerging filmmakers to integrate social change issues into their content. Additionally, Afrinolly produced 89 video tutorials for Google Africa’s Digital Skills youth training program, further solidifying its role as a leader in creative education.

Facebook for Creators training program

In collaboration with Facebook, Afrinolly launched the Facebook for Creators training program, which has empowered 5,000 creative entrepreneurs. The Naija Storybuilders Bootcamp, facilitated by executive producers from the acclaimed HBO series INSECURE, has also provided invaluable training to young screenwriters.

MTN Yello Star

In 2020, Afrinolly won the bid for the $1 million MTN Yello Star Music Reality Show, one of Africa's largest franchised TV reality shows. This achievement further underscores Afrinolly's influence in the entertainment industry. The company has partnered with prestigious institutions such as Henley Business School UK and Berklee College of Music USA to promote education and creative entrepreneurship.

CHIKE MADUEGBUNA, CEO

Chike Maduegbuna has experience developing, advising and implementing design and review of systems in Project Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Human Resources and Tax - for Private sector firms; International development organizations including UK Department for International Development (DFID), USAID, EU and DANIDA.

Chike is an entrepreneur, founder, CEO of Afrinolly Limited. Afrinolly App (Nollywood IMDB) won Google’s Android Developers Challenge for Sub-Saharan Africa in September 2011. Since launching Afrinolly App as a product in 2012, it embarked on activities that aim to promote Movie Production and Distribution in Nigeria. He established a Creative Hub in Lagos to address training needs and inadequate Audio and Video Post-Production facilities.

Chike has hosted at Afrinolly Creative Hub global leaders including Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, Ford Foundation President, Darren Walker, British MP Helen Grant, Global Dean, Henley Business School UK, Professor John Board etc.

Chike is on the Technical Committee of $617m Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprise (i-DICE) Program of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Also, he is on the Steering Committee of Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). He was a member of Technical Working Group (Creative, Cultural, Hospitality, and Tourism Industries) for National Development Plan. Also, Chike is currently on the board of LEAP Africa. He trained as an Accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and obtained B.Sc Economics (University of Nigeria, Nsukka) and M.Sc. Development Management (UK Open University).
