Steven Markovitz is a South African feature film and documentary producer who has worked with over 100 directors over 20 years. He has produced, co-produced and executive-produced features, documentaries and short films including the acclaimed "Behind the Rainbow" "Boy called Twist", '' Congo in Four Acts'' and "Viva Riva!". He recently executive produced the series ''African Metropolis''. His films have been selected for major festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, Toronto and an Oscar nomination. Since 2007, he has worked extensively with directors and producers across Africa producing fiction and documentaries.
Markovitz is the co-founder of "Encounters", the South African International Documentary Festival, now in its 15th year. He is a founding member of the "Independent Producers Organisation" and has sat on various international juries, including Cinemart, Rotterdam and Silverdocs. He recently moderated the first Good Pitch in Johannesburg in partnership with BRITDOC.
